I have worked alongside the seafood industry for the last 12 years with the last 9 as the CEO of the NT Seafood Council. Based in Darwin, Australia I also am a committee member of the National Seafood Industry Alliance and the Northern Territory Research Advisory Committee.
What you love about your seafood industry.
Working for a Not for Profit association that represents the Northern Territory Wildcatch, Aquaculture and Trader/Processor licence holders is challenging and a continual learning curve. I love that there is potential for the industry to grow; to be celebrated; and to be a vital long term provider to the community. It is an honour to work people who volunteer their time to improve the industry.
What is your biggest reward working in the seafood industry?
The two biggest rewards are seeing pride return to the industry and businesses maturing to a space where they are leading and navigating their future.
Favourite memorable moment whilst working in the seafood industry.
The launching of Support NT Caught, a NT Seafood Council promotion campaign which resulted in Territorian’s and visitors to the NT ‘to ask if it’s local and support NT caught’ was such an exciting and special day. Seeing a Support NT Caught sticker on a fishermen’s car the next day, was icing on the cake!
