A new Chair has been appointed to Western Australia’s Rural, Remote and Regional (RRR) Women’s Network reference group to help connect women and families throughout the State.
The RRR Network is a joint initiative of the Department of Agriculture and Food and the Department of Regional Development and Lands to connect and share information among regional communities.
Incoming Chair Leonie Noble, of Geraldton, said the network recognised the enormous contribution women made to their communities and aimed to further increase their participation in regional matters.
Ms Noble was appointed by the Minister for Agriculture and Food and the Minister for Regional Development and Lands for a three year term until December 2014.
Ms Noble said the RRR reference group, with 15 members from across Western Australia, provides an important forum for issues and opportunities affecting rural women, their families and communities to be communicated to government.
“The group has been operating for sixteen years and has become a strong unifying link for sharing and disseminating information to women living in regional Western Australia,” Ms Noble said.
Ms Noble said the RRR Network provided relevant and up-to-date information to rural, remote and regional women, industries, government and communities.
Ms Noble thanked retiring Chair Melva Stone OAM for her valuable contribution to the RRR Network.
