Promoting Seafood Women
WISA at Seafood Directions 2022
Bursaries
Supported by all of the State and Territory agencies, WISA provided bursaries to seafood women to attend the conference. But the bursaries were way more than that! The experience was immersive and intended to build the bursar’s network and capacity. It included a mentor/buddy, networking opportunities before during and after the conference, media opportunities, workshop and panel participation and more.
Power Up breakfast
The Power Up breakfast is a WISA institution. It is an opportunity to enjoy breakfast while networking with industry leaders, innovators and our amazing women from all sectors of the seafood industry. This year we are proud to announce our speaker, Annabel Crabb, one of Australia’s most beloved journalists and a strong advocate for women.
Workshops
Two workshops offer:
- ‘Breaking the Barriers’ is a workshop delivered by WISA and Affectus designed especially for Seafood Women, discussing and problem solving shared critical issues impacting women today
- ‘Communicating with impact’ highly interactive and fun workshop facilitated by Honey & Fox teaches why stories are so effective and how to use this to power up your communications
International Women’s Day 2022
WISA Inspiring Women Webinar Series

We dived into conversation with seven inspiring women from seafood and the broader agriculture community in Australia. We chatted all things seafood and women including taboo topics, we shared secrets of success (and failure), and what it is like becoming leaders. Serious wisdom from seriously brilliant women.
The webinars were recorded and can be found here on WISA’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyALLhOrtKj5MN_7dgfuYbg
